Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has shown a 6,000-point economy Saver price from the US East, but our August 16, 2026 observation is unverified. The graph associated that level with fees from $110 as of October 1, 2024. Search it, but do not budget around it.
Why are the fees so high on British Airways award flights?
British Airways collects carrier-imposed surcharges in addition to government taxes and airport charges. Reward Flight Saver changes the Avios-and-cash mix but has no public award chart. As of August 2026, you must log in and use the calculator to see the exact combinations for your flight.
Are London award flights more expensive on the return?
They can be. A trip beginning in London can incur UK departure duties, with premium cabins generally affected more than arrivals. Programs can also price by direction. Search separate one-way tickets and compare the complete mileage and cash totals rather than assuming both halves match.

Should I use points or cash for a London flight?
