Flying Blue business class between the United States and Europe starts at 60,000 miles each way. Some Promo Rewards have reportedly fallen to 45,000 miles, but those discounts apply only to selected routes and dates. Flying Blue does not price every flight at the starting rate. The quote rises when lower-priced inventory is unavailable.

At the 60,000-mile floor, 360,000 miles covers six one-way awards, or three round trips. At 45,000 miles each way, it covers eight one-way awards, or four round trips. Those are mathematical ceilings, not promises that six or eight seats will appear on the same flights.

The direct link matters because you no longer need an indirect oneworld strategy merely to use Citi points for an American-priced award. It does not mean every American award is cheap. Search your dates, note the mileage and cash charge, and compare that result with Flying Blue before moving anything.

Do not transfer the full balance just to park it at American. Transfer the amount required for a specific award after confirming that every segment and passenger is available.

Accor points were reported as redeeming at a fixed €0.02 each, making that balance worth €3,000 toward eligible stays.

This is not usually the highest-upside use of 300,000 Citi points, but it gives you a clean comparison. If a flight redemption saves less than €3,000 after subtracting award taxes and fees, moving everything to an airline may not be the better deal for your trip.
